The Story
Custom Norse Viking deck art collab with Norse City.
While visiting Norse City Boardroom, our local skate shop in Poulsbo, Washington, the owner Kevin O’Brien and I, with a few of his employees, discussed the possibility of a new Poulsbo shop board.
The Statue
This Viking is actually modeled after the statue at the entrance of town that is likely ten feet high! Here he is painted in a mashup of scratchboard ink and comic styles with acrylic and brush. From his horned cap to scale armored waist, this Viking was recreated, sword included, and a stoic grin (that’s his style). The local statue frequently gets a Santa hat during the holidays!
The Shop
The Norse City Boardroom opened three years ago in a quiet but booming Nordic-heritage village here, participates in community events, and is a popular hangout on the south end of this small town. Poulsbo hopes to be getting a new skate park soon!

Remixed
We remixed our original artwork: printed, then painted back over by hand. We liked the original so much I considered making a version of it unlike the original, so I color corrected it, expanded the edges for overbleed, aligned the truck holes and had a small title added to it. Then I added some additional details and touches with paint and varnish to add some shine and shadow and refined edges to the artwork to further bring it to life. I’m calling decks like this remixed as a trial using a deck design that is already sold.
