Letter 001
A first note from the new Letter workbench.
From the desk of Luke Dorny
Hello, welcome to my new Letters!
I'm an artist and designer living on Bainbridge Island, WA with my family. Hope you enjoy it (unsubscribe any time) 🙀.
Letter 001
This is where the "Letters” page begins: with a personal note about what has been happening in the studio and what has been on my mind.
As progress on the site has approached the release of it, I’ve been pulling back up for a larger perspective and seeing what I’ve made feels a bit more substantial than I realized. I’ll have a proper blog post for that, but for now, here’s the first Letter from me, Luke:
It’s official. I’m in the club.
Made by Dan
Somehow Mr. Simplebits® has managed to continue his run of making spectacularly creative things. Being a member of his Secret Type Club has been such a treat, and it feels like several years has only been a few months. Of course his discounts on the shop and availabilty of his typefaces is a huge plus, but the video presentations have been a satisfying event as they happen, sitting with others and enjoying his insight and stories into running his business, making type, making merch, and all things Simply Cool. A-Okay. Thanks, Dan.
Design Always Matters
Now a link to Scott Boms’ new publishing house and print shop Matter Editions. Scott has been a powerhouse of print creativity in his well-equipped home workshop, and you can see some of this shop in photos on the site.
As Scott also runs his site on Kirby, I’m anxious to see how he develops the site to sell print goods directly. Scott always adds in extra goodies to my purchases. 💪
Version 7 is here
New LETTERS feature!
Now that version 7 of the site has launched, I’m proud to say I finally launched it. It’s been a real joy working on it and will continue to do so. Several new sections are being prepared to launch, so I’m excited to share that with you.
Spread from eye magazine
Eye Magazine
Here’s a snap of the latest eye Magazine that arrived this month. The quality of the print and the articles and large artwork are incredibly satisfying to see and read.
I don’t know of another type-driven magazine of such quality. I’ve added all of them I have to my shelf, and there’ll be more about that soon. 😉
