I’d switched to Moleskine long ago enough that staying on that train made sense because of many reasons, not least of them that seeing a nice group of sketchbooks lined up on the shelf made sense in my mind’s eye.

Large Moleskine notebooks

The “Large” size is much more convenient and portable, and the A4 size is perfect for allowing more creativity on the page.

There are two sizes, ironically, that I use from the Art Collection line of Moleskine notebooks, the Large which is 5 × 8.5”, as well as the A4 8.25 × 11.75 which is a bit larger than a US Letter.

I use to be able to get that Large size book for around $13 more than a decade ago, but lately it can go upwards near $40, so when I find a good price, I stock up. Those larger A4 ones can get really pricey.

The perfect sketchbook varies by person and task, as you might guess/know. I have many sketchbook styles that I love and use, but this is my go-to. Because the paper is opaque and thick enough to not let most inks/paints show or bleed through.

I used to share my sketches while riding the WA Ferry to work and back several times a week on that old-now-janky-service called Insta-something-something. Perhaps I should include those here, if I create a way to do it easily.

Okay, not to get too wordy, that’s this week’s Art Supplies post!
