The Story
Custom hand-painted Joshua Tree artwork from a photo taken by Luke Dorny at Joshua Tree National Park and inspired by the colors from U2’s most famous album: The Joshua Tree, an album that released during the artist’s teen years.
Inspired by both the experience of the park, and remembering the album of his youth, Luke Dorny merged both inspirations into one, but this design would have a third inspiration: The Above and Below. Reversal of colors is the clue.
Materials
Black, white, and gold marks on a gold textured background. This subtle and calming expression with hatch marks and horizons created with a gold base is understated and intriguing.
Creating the Planted series of deck artworks encouraged the exploration of natural objects in a conceptual way that Luke Dorny had not pursued before.
