When Martha Wells’ sci-fi novel All Systems Red was released in 2017 it was well received by a few people around me who love sci-fi, and when I heard, I quickly gobbled it up, too.

A few years earlier I had discovered a book called Robopocalypse (see related link below) which was, from the first page, a “Luke” book. I highly recommend it, and it only becomes more relevant by the day.

All Systems Red was the first experience reading words by Ms. Wells and I enjoyed it right away, noting the insertion of little snippy thoughts by the main character in what can obvioulsy be described as half-android / half-human attempts at sarcasm, wit, and a sense of humor that you’d expect from this scenario.

By now, surely you have heard about the Murderbot Series on tv and we are well into the first season by today’s date.

I did not know what to expect from an adaptation, and in some ways it feels like a whole different book at times. Friends I talk to say this is exactly what they expected of the show, so we are safe to settle in and enjoy the ride.

Having loved Robopocalypse so much, and having enjoyed the last few Alien franchise movies about Artificial Intelligence vs human relations, I think I had more serious and dark expectations for this show, but let’s see how it plays out.

The Murderbot Series of books is now on the seventh story, so with any Bayesian luck we’ll get to see all seven seasons. Or more!
