A while back my son decided he needed an update to his Watch Ultra and I picked up his old one for a song and tried it out for a few weeks.

Computer + Phone + Watch

Everything was fine and I even added in the phone number so it could double as a phone when I left my phone at my desk, for example (gasp!).

It was just too much. Too many devices, it would go off when my phone was otherwise silenced, and things just became too much to manage. I should’ve tried it a bit longer, but when it went off in a meeting, I just took it off and set it aside.

Enter Elrow

A great friend Naz Hamid (nazhamid.com) linked to a pretty cool 3d-printed wrapper for Apple Watches (The Elrow Miniphone) and I started to revisit it and in fact, “Yes, that would make a nice iPod replacement/update!” and I reconsidered selling the watch.

So, I ordered this one and also found the TinyPod Lite version without the scrollwheel (so cool!) so I could evaluate keeping the watch.

Now THAT’s a tiny iPod.

It’s likely a horrible use of such an advanced technological wonder that is the Ultra, but it does have 64GB of SSD space, and perhaps just having 32GB of music is enough for in the car or on walks.

Add back in the phone number to it? Dunno yet. We’ll see.

Looks like some makers have been trying to figure this out for years. scanning the web and YT shows us the teasers
Looks like I’d rather link to a cool maker who’s making things themselves than one that is trying to make it look like Apple and not hitting the mark… Putting Elrow into the main link instead of TinyPod (I’m sure I’ll have instant thoughts the moment they get here)
