My architect skilled dad was pretty close to building our family a home but it never happened.

Now he’s here in the entryway to our house, about to share his favorite quote about building …as a congratulations for us having built our own house.

By the time I went over to stand with him to hug him, he went quiet as we hugged.

Then I woke up.

It was so vivid.

He was never able to see any stage of our house as he was bed-bound and under care late in his life.

Dad passed away four years ago, six months before home completion.

We did it, dad.

Thank you for coming over to celebrate.

As I think back about the last five (or seven!) years, there has been so much to weather on so many levels — that “frankly” (his favorite word), I’m surprised we are here and made it through it all in one piece.
